The Bank Holiday Tournament was well supported with 11 ladies and 5 men taking part.
A busy fun afternoon was had, with lots of tennis taking place.
The two courts were continually busy, without a break, from 2 o’clock until 5 o’clock. Without doubt this was made possible by the friendly atmosphere created by all of the players.
During the course of the afternoon a buffet was available which had been provided by Pam, and very much appreciated by all.
The were 4 rounds, each round comprising of 8 games, which meant everybody played 32 games.
Helen kindly stood in at short notice (45 minutes!) for a disappointed Delia who was unable play. Well done and thank you Helen for standing in, particularly as you had completed a 26 mile walk for charity the day before.
A warm welcome to new members Peter and Sue Blessington, with Peter finishing the afternoon with a healthy score of 19 .
The overall scoring was quite tight with 10 players only being split by 6 games. This is not a lot when you consider everyone completed 32 games.
At the half way stage it looked like Martin was going to take the honours with Pam, because they shared the lead with a score of 12.
Congratulations to the eventual joint winners Ian and Pam, with equal scores of 22.
Not far behind were Jill and Maddie in a shared 3rd place
In 5th place, on an equal score of 19 were Peter and Helen.
When Dr. Hugo wasn’t giving medical advice or massaging Janet’s injured back he managed to focus enough to finish in 7th place with a score of 18.
It was fortunate for Hugo and the ladies, that there were no leg injuries to any of them, if there had been there was every chance his score would have been in single figures.
